Investigation on Cutting Feasibility on Ni-CBN on HSS Substrates for Aerospace Material

Abstract The study involves coating the high-speed steel (HSS) tool with cubic Boron via electroless nickel co-deposition. surface of Ni-CBN was deposited where process involved chemical reactions as ceramic CBN powders embedded within layer. By introducing process, cost and procedure could be simplified. deposition has been extensively practised in industry, most prevalent offers excellent corrosion, wear abrasion resistance, ductility, lubricity, electrical properties, hardness. Thus, introduction new (Ni-CBN) tools can a contribution to industry. This paper discussed on comparing performance Nickel-cubic boron nitride HSS substrates uncoated for its tolerance milling Aluminium Alloy 7075. variables selected during experimentation based Taguchi L9 are cutting speed, feed rate, depth cut three different levels each parameter. Result shows, lowest flank coated measured is 51.34 μm while highest 380.26 μm. roughness 1.154 0.42μm. Meanwhile, substrates, Ra 0.787μm 0.251μm. At end analysis, generally able slightly reduce longest lifetime 195 minutes compared 143 minutes. Therefore, it concluded that mill wear.
